ASUU Set To Suspend Strike
There are indications that the long-awaited ASUU strike might end anytime soon as the union set to suspend strike.
The Federal Government has approved an additional N100 billion for the university sector as part of the understanding in the re-negotiation of the 2009 Agreement.
Besides, N50 billion was equally approved to be shared by the university-based unions as earned allowances.
Although ASUU on Thursday said it would not call off its strike until the salary arrears of its members were paid.
The university lecturers also said they would not teach students to make up for the six months they had been on strike if the Federal Government failed to pay for the “period of strike.”
In recent weeks, ASUU has been in talks with the federal government which usually ends in deadlock.
Indications emerged yesterday that ASUU may consider the option of suspending the strike.
The union will meet on Monday Next week to deliberate on FG offers and available options.
This is a developing story…
Please and Please for the next generation of leaders, call off the strike
As Honourable members of the society, ASUU members should forego the six months un-earned salary and resume to work please.
I am in support of Federal government to pay them for the period of the strikes, so long as they are going to be paid their accumulated arrears, then, they should take what had been approved for them, definitely, not for the period of strikes
Am in support of federal government No work no opay
I am in full support of my lecturers, they have been patient enough, let the FG do the needful so we can have a smooth education in Nigeria
🙂
Bro are you still in Nigeria? Are you the only one that had never notice that asuu was never talking about welfare or state of the universities but just put that excuse in the fore front of Thier argument so that students will support them?
If your a student, beg any lecturer that you’re very close to, to help u with just something academically . Maybe an equation or something, he will tell you to go and tell fg to meet up with Thier demands, is that an attribute of someone who is really fighting for the good of a student?
If FG is to pay the lecturers for not teaching their students for six months then who pays the students for not been taught for six months? If FG will pay the lecturers then the schools will have to pay their students for the delay in their academics even after payment of school fees.
Please FG pay them their money.
Am speechless
Please for the sake of the Student asuu call off the ongoing strike
They should forego their six months salary and Come back to school
As far they didn’t teach Students 😒 for 6 month they decided to go for strike
You are a fo*l, so then we will start u from the past section so you have to go back to the previous school year, you must be insa*e to say this
Please and please Asuu let the strike continues
Dear lecturers biko anam ario unu. Suspend the strike. Also the no work no pay policy is actually good because you’ve not been working yet you feel it’s your right to get paid. That’s selfishness at the highest level. Dear fg you’ve really tried, you’ve also been patient with Assu. God bless Nigeria!
