Below is the General Minimum entry requirements for the Postgraduate programme in the University of Calabar:

In addition to the specific entry requirements for each programme, candidates seeking admission into the Postgraduate programme in University of Calabar must have 5 O’ Level credits including English Language and Mathematics obtained in not more than two (2) sittings.

UNICAL Postgraduate Admission Requirements For Agricultural Economics (Master’s Degree Programme At University Of Calabar)

Candidates for admission into M.Sc. Degree programme in Agricultural Economics must hold a first Degree in Agricultural Economics or a related discipline with a good Second Class Honors Degree (with a CGPA of not less than 3.00 on a five point scale or 2.50 on a four point scale) from the University of Calabar or any other University recognized by the Senate of University of Calabar.

The Department of Agricultural Economics offers courses leading to the award of Master of Science (M.Sc.) and Doctoral (Ph.D.) Degrees in the following areas of specialization:

Minimum requirements for admission into Masters of Science (M. Sc.) programme in Biochemistry are as follows:

• O’ Level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics in not more than two sittings

UNICAL Postgraduate Admission Requirements For Public Administration (Master’s Degree Programme At University Of Calabar)

1. Students admitted to the programme will be holders of good first degree () from recognized universities.

2. Holders of degrees in discipline other than Public Administration would be required to takeand pass 300 and 400 level courses in the Department of Public Administration.

3. These courses will not count for credit toward MPA degree.

4. To qualify for the award of MPA degree, a candidate must successfully complete 32 credit units.

5. A good B.Sc. or B.A degree in Public Administration, Political Science with (Second Class Lower) of 3.00 and above on 5 point scale and 2.50 and above on 4 point scale may be considered.

6. However, Graduates in related disciplines especially in the Faculty of Social Sciences, Law,History and International Studies, Management Sciences or Philosophy may be accepted for direct admission into the M.Sc. programmes, only if they possess CGPA of 3.50 and above on5.00 point scale and 2.50 and above on 4.00 point scale.

UNICAL Postgraduate Admission Requirements For Political Science (Master’s Degree Programme At University Of Calabar)

1. M.Sc: CGPA of 2.50/4 or 3.00/5, Ph.D: CGPA of 3.00/4 or 3.50/5.

2. The M.Sc/Ph.D programme is for candidates who do not qualify for direct Ph.D admission buthave up to a CGPA of 2.50/4 or 3.30/5. An M.Sc/Ph.D candidate would be expected to register foran approved combination of M.Sc level courses.

3. A 60% and above-average would qualify the candidate for conversation to Ph.D programme.

UNICAL Postgraduate Admission Requirements For Accounting (Master’s Degree Programme At University Of Calabar)

1. Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related areas of theUniversity of Calabar or from other Universities recognized by the Senate, with a minimum CGPAof 3.00 on a five point grading system or 2.50 on a four point grading system.

2. Candidates with minimum of 3.50 in Post-Graduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA)who have a good bachelor’s degree in such related areas as Economics, banking, Finance,Insurance/Actuary Sciences and Business Management may be considered for admission.

3. Candidates are equally expected to present and defend a concept note in theDepartment and obtain a pass level in written and oral screening tests as approved by theGraduate School.

4. The above admission requirements are additional to the basic entry requirements forB.Sc. Accounting of the Department which are: O’level (WAEC, GCE or NECO) 5 creditpasses in not more than two sittings, including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two subjects.

UNICAL Postgraduate Admission Requirements For Business Management (Master’s Degree Programme At University Of Calabar)

1. To qualify for admission into M.Sc candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree inBusiness management or related Management Science programme from a recognized Universitywith a minimum CGPA of 3.00 on a 5.00 point or 2.50 on a 4 point scale.

2. Candidates must have five credit passes at one or two sittings including English,Mathematics and Economics or Commerce in WASC, GCE or NECO at the ordinary level asbasic requirement.

3. Candidates with MBA degree may be considered for admission provided such candidatesfulfil the departmental requirement as stated above.

UNICAL Postgraduate Admission Requirements For Nursing Science (Master’s Degree Programme At University Of Calabar)

To be considered for admission into the Master’s Degree programme, the candidate must possess:

1. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing: First or Second class Honors Degree from University ofCalabar or an accredited and recognized University by University of Calabar Senate with a CGPAof not lower than 3.0 on a 5 point scale or 2.50 on a 4 point scale.

2. A current, valid license of registration for practice from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

3. The candidate must present and defend a concept note submitted to the department.

4. The candidate must write and pass a qualifying examination and must attend an interview.

5. Also, the candidate must have submitted at least one (1) reference letter from his/her formerHead of Department orLecturer.

6. A holder of Postgraduate diploma in Nursing may be admitted into the Masters’programme.

1. A Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Radiography or Medical imaging from the University ofCalabar, or any institution recognized by the University of Calabar senate, with a minimum CGPA of not less than 2.50 (on the 4-point grading system and 3.00 (on the 5 – point grading system)
